A genuine community project
Eat My Words is not another impersonal ‘will you give us money?’ appeal. It is being built from the ground up by poets, ambassadors, businesses and individual supporters who care about Auckland.

An invitation to Auckland businesses
Eat My Words is bringing Auckland-connected poets, local businesses and individual donors together to raise $100,000 towards feeding hungry people in our city. A $5000 corporate sponsorship has you become part of the community making it happen - and to help create a fundraising idea that can travel further. We're out to secure at least $50,000 in corporate sponsorships by mid-December 2026. Eat My Words, the book, will be launched around March next year at a public event with poets, sponsors and invited dignitaries in attendance.
Why sponsor Eat My Words?
This is a grassroots project with people, poetry and practical impact at its heart. Sponsors join the story, rather than simply appearing at the end of it.
Eat My Words is not another impersonal ‘will you give us money?’ appeal. It is being built from the ground up by poets, ambassadors, businesses and individual supporters who care about Auckland.
The book, its launch and planned media coverage will create several moments of interest — giving sponsors a positive story to share with staff, customers and their wider community.
Few fundraising projects bring poets, corporates and individual donors together around one clear purpose. That unusual mix is part of what makes Eat My Words memorable.
The minimum contribution for sponsorship is $5000. All funds raised will o directly to Auckland City Mission's food programmes. Every sponsor will be acknowledged in the book and on the Eat My Words website. Sponsors also receive 10 complimentary copies of the book, with further copies available at cost. We also intend to create the maximum possible media buzz around this venture.
Eat My Words has the blessing and support of Auckland City Mission, the intended recipient of the funds raised.
The project is being run with care and professional discipline. The intention is to create a fundraising model that people in other cities can copy if they choose.
The contributing poets have a connection with Auckland, sponsors are being sought locally, and the project’s purpose is focused on people in this city.
